Key learning outcomes The aim of this study programme is to ensure that the graduates are able to compete successfully in the Czech as well as European marketplace in the field of German Studies. This is achieved especially thanks to the intercultural focus of the programme whose necessity can in particular be perceived in the regions bordering Austria and Germany. Graduates gain or deepen the following abilities and knowledge: 1. the ability to work on research projects individually as well as in teams (linguistics or literature) 2. a thorough philological basis with a specialization in the Czech-German intercultural context 3. an overview of the development of the German language as well as of the current tendencies in the German language and of selected aspects of the intercultural and interlingual view on languages in general, special attention being paid to the German and the Czech language 4. an overview of the development of the German-language literature from the intercultural point of view with a special view to the Czech-German intercultural context (in particular, the reciprocal influences of the German-language and the Czech-language literature will be explored, as well as Czech topoi in German-language literature, Czech-German and Czech-Austrian literary relations) and the ability to independently interpret a literary text from the intercultural point of view. 5. language competence at least at Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
