Lecture Topics: 1. consultations: The states after traumatic damage. The states after amputation. Hand surgery: possible consequences as physical, mental, self-service, equipment and aids. States after burns: problems, treatment goals. Seminar Topics: 2. consultation: Case study analysis: the patients after trauma. Examination of a patient and determining a short-term occupational therapy plan. Monitoring the cases with the patients with hand trauma: splint suggestion, compensational aids. Self-Study: Occupational therapy possibilities after traumatic damage of the head as well as of upper and lower limbs in acute, subacute and chronic phase.

The subject is a basic subject of the area of study. It is structured as theoretically-practical and follows the introductory chapters of occupational therapy and lectures of surgery and traumatology. Students gain knowledge and skills in the area of examining a patient, practical skills and experience when applying occupational therapy techniques in traumatology, surgery and orthopedics department. They know how to suggest a therapy plan for individual disabilities. The emphasis is put on function optimization and reaching independence in household environment and return to work. Students can gain and apply theoretical knowledge in practice in the area of surgery, traumatology and orthopedics.
Subject Knowledge: Students will gain theoretic and practical skills that will allow them apply suitable therapeutic procedures in the area of traumatology, orthopedics and surgery. Professional Skills: Students are able to apply suitable therapeutic methods based on the diagnostics in a given clinical area. |
