Course content
The following places will be visited during the excursion: museums, monuments, schools, kindergartens and expatriate organizations, including discussions. The stay will be realized in Bautzen and its surroundings.

Learning outcomes
Upper and Lower Lusatia was an integral part of the Czech Crown Lands from the Middle Ages until the 17th century. However, the specific relationship of the Czech lands to Lusatia and especially to the Slavic minority there has been cultivated to the present day. Learning outcomes of the course unit: The aim of the course is to acquaint with the history and present of the Lusatian Sorbs (also Wends) in the Czech and German context with the accentuation of minority education and Czech-Lusatian and German-Lusatian-Sorbian intercultural relations. Within the excursion, the participants will visit various places and institutions in Upper Lusatia, where various aspects of the Lusatian-Sorbian present and past will be demonstrated.
Students will gain an overview of the history and the present-day situation of the local Slavic minority of the Lusatian Sorbs in the Czech-German context. They will also learn to work with historical faxts and interret and/or mediate them.
