Lectures: 1 - 2 week Introduction to the course The conception of obstetrics and gynaecology 3- 4 week Anatomy and physiology of female reproductive organs External and internal organs Female sexual cycle Developmental periods in a woman's life 5 - 6 week Planned parenthood 7 - 8 week Investigative methods in gynecology 9 - 10 week Gynecological surgery 11 -12 week Pathology and pathophysiology of female reproductive organs 13 - 14 week Gynecological inflammations Etiopatogenesis of gynecological inflammations Inflammation of external and internal genitalia Seminars: The 1st year of study 1- 3 week Midwifery in clinical practice 4 - 5 week Midwifery in outpatient pediatric gynecology 6 - 14 week Midwifery in hospital practice Admitting clients and hospitalization: planned, emergency admissions Conservative therapy, risk and pathological pregnancies Minor surgical procedures: nursing process (pre-surgery and post-surgery care) Midwifery in perioperative care of minor surgeries Major surgeries: nursing process

Learning outcomes
Gynecology deals with diagnosis and treatment of female reproductive system diseases of the organs. The discipline belongs to the border professional area made up by surgical and internal disciplines.
To introduce the differences of individual need care among women regarding age groups, to understand the differences of female health within primary health care system, to understand the differences in treatment and care provided to a sick woman in the system of secondary care, to understand the differences in treatment and care provided to a terminally ill and a dying woman in the system of tertiary care, to know basics of evaluation/assessment of an actual health condition of a woman, to know standard diagnostic procedures and tests applied under particular clinical conditions, to know standard treatment system and methods used in physicians' offices for particular clinical conditions, to be able to apply a holistic approach to a patient considering bio-psycho-social aspects related to nursing care.
