Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide basic information about national minorities, that currently exist in the Czech Republic, and to focus on selected nationalities in Europe. The course acquaints with relevant professional terminology, especially with legal anchoring of minorities. Interpretation will focus on historical, demographic and social aspects of minorities.
The student should get knowledges of the causes, nature and consequences of the activities of national minorities in the Czech Republic and European Union countries. The course will present the principles of minority policy of the Czech Republic and selected EU countries, will deal with differences in approach to the so-called old and new minorities and present selected problems of some minorities in EU countries.
