1. Introduction to the course - When is the topic of social and political issue controversial? 2. Conflicts of life roles - a sample lesson of Education for Citizenship/ Foundations of Humanities, its analysis 3. What topics can be described as controversial in contemporary society? 4. Which topics of Education for Citizenship or Foundations of Humanities are beneficial to open as controversial topics? 5. Refugees and Asylum - a sample lesson of Education for Citizenship / Foundations of Humanities, its analysis 6. What methods and forms of work are efficient in teaching controversial topics? 7. Controversial Topics - discussion - project teaching 8. Is there a problem here? - a sample lesson of Education for Citizenship / Foundations of Humanities, its analysis 9. Case study, working with a film in teaching controversial topics 10. Sample lesson - students will select their own controversial topic of Education for Citizenship / Foundations of Humanities, its analysis 11. Learning outcomes
The course is primarily based on an analysis of the concept of "controversial issues", using an interactive approach to the issues presented in individual lessons. In the course, students will acquire the knowledge how to work by way of model situations with a diversity of opinion, form and formulate their own attitudes. Students will develop their educational skills when working with these issues in Education for Citizenship/Foundations of Humanities. In this course, students will get acquainted with various forms of discussions and debates.
Students, who are actively participated, will acquire the following skills and abilities in the seminars: - ability to identify controversial social issues - ability to analyze current political and social topics - skills to work with a case study - ability to be participated in various public discussions and debates or to lead them - knowledge of the problem and project teaching and working with controversial topics in Education of Humanities

1. Student will have a maximum of 2 excused absences 2. Students will work out their tasks for students who were missing 3. Students will analyze some controversial topic and prepare a research of scientific literature and other resources on the topic 4. Students will give a PowerPoint presentation about one of selected controversial topics and prepare it pedagogically
