The aim of the Final Examination is to assess the philological knowledge acquired in the Master's as well as in the Bachelor's degree programme. During the examination, especially the students' intercultural and interlingual competencies are assessed. Students must prove that they are well-informed about the discourse in literary theory as well as in linguistics, emphasis being placed particularly on intercultural and comparative aspects. Students should also prove the ability to acquire knowledge from specialized literature and thus gain a deeper understanding of the given subject and its development. They should be able to explain and interpret selected aspects of a given subject as a result of intercultural processes in the Czech-German context.
1. The ability to think systematically and logically, to work independently as well as in teams (in the field of linguistics and literary theory). 2. Thorough knowledge of philology, with a specialization in the Czech-German intercultural context. 3. Overview of the stages in the development of the German language as well as an overview of the current trends. Knowledge of selected aspects of intercultural and interlingual perspectives on German and Czech as well as on languages in general. 4. Overview of the stages in the development of the German literature from an intercultural perspective, with a special view to the Czech-German context (especially the mutual influence of Czech and German literature, Czech themes in German literature, thematizing Czech-German and Czech-Austrian relations). Ability to analyze and interpret literary texts from an intercultural perspective.
