The subject presents the main issues of literary translation and various approaches to translating from English to Czech, with the emphasis on the complexity of the translated text (including the social and cultural background).
Students gain their first experience with translation from English into their mother tongue. They learn adn practice the following knowledge and skills: - to apply the grammatical knowledge in both languages - to differentiate among the stylistic levels - to translate idioms and collocations properly - to respect the relevant cultural, social, political and historical background - to further develop and cherish their mother tongue (Czech) |
