Course content
|
Main themes: Roots of creative dramatics. Elements of process in creative dramatics. Main aims of creative drama. Exercises and games at the first degree of primary school. The teacher's role in the process of teaching creative dramatics. Organization of drama lessons. Preparation and planning. The role of the setting in creative dramatics. Structured drama. Creative drama in teacher's preparation. Practical part: Introductory exercises, warming ups and games. Improvisation exercises. Characterization. Creativity. Movement and pantomime. Extra linguistic communication. Adaptation of texts/plays, etc. Role-playing vs. monologues in the classroom.

Learning outcomes
|
This course introduces a modern and wide-spread method of making use of creative dramatics that connects aspects of the development of language skills, a communicative approach, as well as social and emotional aspects of students´ imagination and creativity, into a modern academic curriculum. It makes use of students' creativity and teaches them to dramatize literary texts, present various situations in the form of dramatic projects, including video projects. The course will also make use of short skits with puppets, sketches, monologues and role-playing.
By completing this course the student will acquire a lot of knowledge and skills that will enable him/her to prepare for teaching English in a less traditional way. Students will be able to - develop creativity and creative thinking in children studying the English language - strengthen independent forms of learning in children - develop group dynamics and cooperative skills of their prospective students - strengthen young learner's self-confidence by selecting new /more active strategies Students will learn a great number of techniques and methods of work made use of in creative dramatics And apply them with the aim to develop young learner's motivation in their language studies
