Course content
1. Organization of the semester, the conditions for obtaining credit and exams. Basics of the theory of GIS and geoinformatics. 2. The GIS project activities. Determination of project objectives. Database - database design, data checking and debugging. Data modeling - data models. Geodatabase - properties, topology, topological rules. 3. Filling the database - source of spatial and attribute data (primary x secondary data, their basic characteristics and usage). Available data sources in the Czech republic. 4. Data restructuring focusing on vector data. Saving data. Conversion of data formats geodata. Change of map projections. Transformation of coordinate systems. Generalization in the GIS environment. Converting representations. 5. Data restructuring focusing on raster data. Changing the storage format of data (resample, change data depth). Raster algebra. Reclassification of data. Highlighting content. Visualization methods. Spatial operations on rasters. 6. Data analysis and synthesis of data - measuring function, geographic analysis (attribute, spatial and combined queries), topological overlay, map algebra, distance analysis, network analysis, statistical analysis, image analysis. 7. Data analysis and synthesis of data - digital terrain models. Sources of data, interpolation methods. Analysis of terrain models. 3D visualization 8. Advanced analysis in GIS vector data - Assessment of landscape development 9. Advanced analysis in GIS raster data - hydrological modeling 10. Data Visualization and create outputs. Publication of data. Map servers. 11. Use of GIS at Faculty of Environment 12. Consultation for the project work.
