Lectures: Week 1: Selected cardiovascular diseases. Week 2: Selected respiratory diseases. Week 3: Selected diseases of a digestive tract. Week 4: Selected musculoskeletal diseases. Week 5: Selected urinary diseases. Week 6: Selected diseases of glands with internal secretion. Week 7: Disorders of internal environment. Seminars: Week 1: Nursing care of the patient with cardiovascular diseases. Week 2: Nursing process for the patient with respiratory diseases. Week 3: Nursing care of the patient with the diseases of a digestive tract. Week 4: Nursing process for the patient with musculoskeletal. Week 5: Nursing process for the patient with urinary diseases. Week 6: Nursing process for the patient with gland diseases (including glands with internal secretion). Week 7: Nursing process for the patient with internal environment disorder.

The course is designed as a theoretical and practical unit. It is the part of more complex subject area covering clinical nursing. The course introduces clinical conditions and diseases appeared in internal medicine with the focus on nursing care of patient's needs being changed in connection with some internal diseases. It characterizes the particularities in the field of diagnostics, treatment and nursing care of patients in internal medicine area.
Professional Knowledge: Students know the causes, etiology and symptoms of internal diseases. Students know basic procedures of diagnosis process and treatment regarding diseases in internal medicine. Students can describe the specifics of nursing care provided to the patients suffering internal diseases. Professional Skills: Students can develop a plan of nursing care in the context of disease specifics in internal medicine. They can develop, implement and evaluate an educational plan for the patients with particular internal diseases. |
