Course content |
Lecture topics: 1. Diabetes mellitus, division, acute and chronic a complications and their treatment with special emphasis on diabetic polyneuropathies and diabetic foot, including rehabilitation possibilities, physical activity in diabetics. 2. Diseases of the digestive tract, syndromes and testing of hepatic encephalopathy. 3. Diseases of the urinary system, including urinary incontinence and rehabilitation possibilities 4. Rheumatologic diseases with the emphasis on rheumatoid arthritis, Bechterev 5. Metabolic bone diseases. 6. General symptoms of infectious diseases and their significance for rehabilitation. 7. Access to rehabilitation in oncological diseases. 8. Geriatric syndromes. 9. Rehabilitation nursing in internal medicine. 10. Revision.

The aim of the subject is to provide the theoretical basics of symptomatology of the most often internal diseases and their effect on physical and cognitive condition, briefly introduce students to examination and medical healing methods in the most common internal diseases, to provide specific knowledge about some of these diseases and to introduce students in more details to the possibilities of non - pharmacological treatments, especially with possibilities of regime precaution, physiotherapy, ergotherapy, physical therapy and balneology in the most common internal diseases. The second part of the course is devoted to metabolic and endocrinology diseases with the focus on diabetes mellitus and metabolic diseases of the skeleton, diseases of the digestive tract, urinary system, basic rheumatologic diseases with emphasis on rheumatoid arthritis and Bechterev's system and general symptomatology of infectious diseases. In conclusion, the specifics of disease in an old age, geriatric syndromes and principles of rehabilitation nursing in internal medicine are discussed.
Subject Knowledge: Student can independently present the range of knowledge and skills about topics extent of lectures or to which he is pointed out in lectures. Subject Skills: Student is able to assess the suitability of footwear for diabetic patient with polyneuropathy and with threatening syndrome of diabetic foot, he/she can recommend a daily regime of physical exercise for diabetic patients, can test the cognitive dysfunction in hepatic encephalopathy. Student is able to measure the distance on the spine in the spine diagnostics development in rheumatologic diseases. |
