Lecture Topics: 1. Introduction to the subject, terms, basic definitions. 2. Position of an occupational therapist in the team. The importance and benefit of occupational therapy. 3. Occupational therapy application according to the type of psychiatric establishment. 4. Methods and techniques of occupational therapy in psychiatry. 5. Examination, testing in occupational therapy in psychiatry. 6. Occupational therapy in the period of hospitalization of a patient. 7. Occupational therapy in rehabilitation after finishing hospitalization. 8. Occupational therapy application in community health care. 9. Occupational therapy in establishments of social services. 10. Occupational therapy in children's psychiatry. Seminar Topics: 1. Occupational therapy entry examination. Processing of a short-term occupational therapy plan. 2. Planning of occupational therapy intervention. 3. Occupational therapy intervention according to diagnosis of a patient/client. Case study. 4. Therapy with an individual. 5. Work in a group of patients/clients. 6. Continuous, output assessment of occupational therapy. 7. Processing of a long-term occupational therapy plan. 8. Learning outcomes |
The subject is structured as theoretically- practical. It follows psychiatry and psychology subjects. The emphasis is put on thorough function diagnostics, examination of a patient/client including planning of occupational therapy intervention taking into account the diagnosis. The subject also makes students familiar with the system of community health care.
Subject Knowledge: Student can describe occupational therapy procedures in work with psychiatric patients. He can define position of an occupational therapist in a multidisciplinary team. Professional Skills: Student can realize occupational therapy examination, planning, intervention and output assessment of individual psychiatric diagnosis. |
