Lecture Topics: 1. General psychiatry: terms, definitions. 2. Mental health. 3. Mental disorder. 4. Organic mental disorders: dementia, delirium. 5. Neurotic disorders: classification, a case study. 6. Affective disorders: diagnostic criteria, a case study. 7. The disorders of schizophrenic nature. 8. The disorders of schizophrenic nature: a case study 9. Revision Seminar Topics: 1. Personality disorder. 2. Habit disorders, food intake disorder. 3. Communal psychiatry. 4. Social psychiatry. 5. Learning outcomes
The subject is classified as theoretical. It introduces the students with general psychiatry and the possibilities of diagnostics and therapy. It makes the students aware of legal aspects connected with mental disorders and it points out the importance of physiotherapy as a part of of mental disorders treatment.
Subject Knowledge: Students can detect clinic manifestation of mental disorders and respect specifics of mental disorders for the old age and children's age. The student can describe basic diagnostic methods in psychiatry and name therapeutical possibilities in psychiatry. Professional Skills: Students can take into consideration the legal aspects related to mental disorders and justify the importance of physiotherapy as the part of mental disorders treatment.
