Course content
1. Basic terms and phenomena used in electric machines, division of electric machines. 2. Types, design, principle and use of transformers. 3. Transformer operating modes. 4. Operation of transformers in power system. 5. Types, design, principle and use of asynchronous machines. 6. Operating modes of asynchronous machines, circular diagram, moment. 7. Operating characteristics of asynchronous machines. 8. Types, design, principle and use of synchronous machines. 9. Operating modes of synchronous machines. 10. Operation of synchronous generators in power system, synchronous motors. 11. Types, design, principle and use of DC machines. 12. Working modes of DC machines, commutation. 13. Operating characteristics of DC motors. 14. AC commutator motors, special electric motors.

Learning outcomes
The meaning of the subject consists in obtain of basic overview about rotating and non-rotating electric machines from theoretical and practical point of view. The subject follows up obtained knowledge of physics, mathematics and electrical engineering. The subject deals with types, designs, principles of working, operational states and behavior, and also their applications. Practical measurements on electrical machines are part of subject.
The student is well versed in the design of electrical machines. Students are familiar with diagrams describing the operation of electrical machines. The student is able to connect and make measurements on electrical machines.
