Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental instruction about the subject of the study and research activities in the area of foreign language didactics, about the theoretical bases of the Didactics of Foreign Languages and its interconnection with such branches of science as linguistics (and also applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics), Pedagogy, Psychology, Psychology of Learning etc. The course mediates an excursion into the historical development of foreign language teaching methods, forms of teaching and learning, strategies of teaching and learning, as well as goals of foreign language teaching. It also informs them about the documents related to foreign language teaching.
Students - are able to see the language as a system and understand its role in the process of foreign language teaching/learning. - have an idea of the organization of teaching in the institutional context; - get acquainted with methodological concepts of foreign language teaching, goals of teaching and their forms; - acquire a survey of fundamental documents related to foreign language teaching.
