Course content
|
1. The word-order of the German and Czech clause, grammatical and functional word-order, the sentence pattern; 2. The complex sentences, the complex clause determination and coordination, differences in both the languages; 3. The complex clause coordination, kinds of relations subject and object sentences, correlatives with subject and object sentence; 4. Local clauses; 5. Temporal Clauses, expressing temporality in both the languages, consecutio temporum; 6. Modal(ity) Sentences, expressing modality in both the languages, conjunctions; 7. Causal Clauses in the narrow sense of the word- determination of the underlying cause, expressing causality in both the languages; 8. Final Clauses, expressing finality in both the languages, final infinitive structure in both the languages; 9. Consecutive clauses, expressing consecutive relations in both the languages, the real and irreal effect; 10. Concessive Clauses, expressing concessivity in both the languages, concessive clauses in ante-position and post-position, the real and the hypothetic relation; 11. Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course called "German-Czech Comparative Syntax" is to get the learners acquainted with parallels, in particular with differences in the structure of the Czech and the German clause. The content of the course are predominantly Adverbial Clauses, in which Czech students most frequently make the mistakes caused by inter-language interference. With its content the course continues to develop the learners´ knowledge acquired in Syntax of the Current German Language in the Bachelor study programme.
After completing the course the students will be able to get a contrastive view of the German and Czech syntax, they will be able to be aware of Czech-German interference and prevent its occurrence.

Active participation in seminars (at least 70%), the fulfilment of continuously assigned tasks, elaboration of one seminar paper or successful mastering the planned credit test.
