In the period of constantly growing globalization influences and overlapping cultures not only in the economic sphere, but predominantly in the area of social science, it seems to be a necessity to equip students with intercultural competences. This course is focused on theories and methods that are relevant for philological branches of science, mainly for German Studies and thematically it makes use of specific features of Czech-German relations and cultural influences. The lectures of this course follow up the knowledge acquired in the bachelor programme Intercultural German Studies and inform students with the selected theories and methods and their main aim is to deepen their professional competence s by applying the intercultural theory, in particular to the literary and linguistic areas. On the basis of the critical analysis of academic texts and the subsequent discussion about the selected themes the student develops his intercultural competences in the seminar and at the same time he is mediated contrary views of individual theories to the given problem.
The student will deepen their professional competences to apply intercultural theories to the literary and linguistic spheres. Further, he will acquire and develop intercultural competences on the basis of analyzing professional theoretical texts.
