Course content
|
The course teaching in a combined form includes the following topics in individual teaching blocks: 1. Archival legislation and organization of archival care in the Czech Republic - Act on Archival and Records Service No. 499/2004 Coll. and its implementing regulations, genesis of the current state 2. Territorial organization and structure of the archival network, types of archives, their basic tasks, accreditation of archives 3. Archival and records service, pre-archival care and selection of archival records 4. Registration, protection and processing of archival records, making archival records accessible, viewing and research agenda, archives as administrative authorities 5. Material, technical and personnel security, financing, internal organization and management of the operation of archives - archive management

Learning outcomes
|
The course aims to provide students with a basic overview and a set of primary knowledge about the current legislative framework and the current organization and functioning of archival science in the Czech Republic, by combining the form of a monologue (lecture) and dialogical methods (interview, discussion, brainstorming). The content is presented contextually with references to the historical roots and genesis of the current state and to the basic methodological postulates of contemporary scientific archival science. This systemic explanation is followed by a set of information about the current practical functioning of Czech archival science, presented in an appropriate transnational (European, world) context. The result of teaching in the course should be a secure orientation in the structure of Czech archival science, a comprehensive idea of the working procedures and functioning of archives, as well as the work of archivists, its meaning and mission.
The student will gain an orientation in the issues of archival science. He/she will be able to orientate himself/herself in its current organization in the Czech Republic. He/she will be familiar with the forms and frameworks of archival material use, as well as a number of other related topics.
