This work taking deeper look into ongoing history of relationship between artist and the expansively developing digital technology. Since as early as 1950's, long before any kind of electronic computing machines was accessible outside of specialized scientific research centers, artist were anticipating potential of this emerging technology and entirely new tools and capabilities it could bring to the creative process. At this stage number of artist, who were seeking for objectification of creative process, were attempting to visualize upcoming informational paradigm. Most notable the "New Tendencies” movement that was formed in Yugoslavia in 1961, members of which were expressing their anticipation of transition to utopian society. By exploring compositional capabilities of grid and replacing the agency of the artist with the step-by-step-definition of rules, an algorithm, they managed to grope symbolism of emerging logic of codes and networks in the new informational paradigm.
With each and every breakthrough in computing and telecommunications, beginning with primitive calculators - until today's vastly developing science of artificial intelligence and machine learning, artists gained not only the tools for manifestation of their vision and concepts, but also the new ways to perceive and approach the process of conceptualization and creation of an art work itself, which the following text is going to be focused on.
