The topic of the thesis was to determine the diversity of freshwater tardigrades (Tardigrada) in the locality of Lake Píšťany (Litoměřice). The work is divided into two parts - research and practical. The research part is focused on the biology, ecology of tardigrades, types of freshwater ecosystems and factors influencing water quality and life in it. The practical part consists of the methodological procedure and the evaluation of the obtained data.
Tardigrada are found in all ecosystems of the planet. We find them in terrestrial, marine and freshwater environments. All tardigrades are hygrophilous, so they need water to live. They have developed various adaptations to life in extreme conditions, among these adaptations are cryptobiosis or diapause.
In the Litoměřice region, representatives of tardigrades from four genera Dactylobiotus sp, Hypsibius sp, Ramazzottius sp were found. and Thulinius sp.. The aquatic environment in which the tardigrades were found had pH values ranging from 7.74 to 8.56.

V rámci těchto lokalit bude měřená kvalita vody (pH, teplota, salinita, množství rozpuštěných částic) a porovnána diverzita a početnost nalezených druhů želvušek.
