Chimeric antigen receptors are synthetically engineered T cell receptors used in immunotherapy. These receptors are known by the term CARs (Chimeric Antigen Receptors). They are characterized by the ability to fight solid tumours and malignant cells. CAR receptors are designed to transmit antigen specificity to an immune effector cell. This method was gradually verified in animal models and clinical studies in cancer patients and made its way to practical use in medical treatment.
