This diploma thesis explores the relationship between real and constructed identity in virtual spaces. Identification is an important aspect of individuality for many, if not all, of us in
the postmodern era, where identification is discussed much more often than just 10 years ago.
The ways in which we construct our "other selves" are fundamental psychological shifts in how we perceive ourselves in reality and idealize our real selves. My work responds to our inseparable embodiment from identity, and the resulting work explores the bridges between creation, existence, and the human need for identification within life through a constructed dialogue between the medium of an authorial virtual persona. At the same time, it reflects
on the ways in which these natural shifts occur and offer points of reference for how to view virtuality, while reflecting on the relevance of the applicability of Eastern theoretical approaches to authors' virtual identity.
