The thesis deals with the issue of suitability of laser welding technology as an effective replacement of the original soldering technology for joining tubes. The thesis contains three main parts. The theoretical part contains the basic characteristics of weldability of copper and their alloys, then the laser welding technology is briefly described. In the second part, an analysis of the current state of the art is presented, where the original brazing technology for joining tubes is briefly characterized, also the laser welding technology is presented as a replacement for the mentioned application.
The last part is devoted to the analysis of the welded joints of the supplied tubing. The analysis is carried out on weld specimens in perpendicular sections of the tube-tube joint. On these welds, measurements of the defined parameters were carried out according to EN ISO 15614-8 standard, which is used to determine the procedures for welding joints of pipes with tubing. These measured parameters were then compared with the criteria set out in that standard. A sub-objective is to assess the influence of welding parameters, specifically welding speed and power source on the mentioned parameters. Based on the results of this analysis, the suitability of laser welding technology as a replacement for the original brazing technology is then assessed.
