This bachelor's thesis will be talking about the Western culture from the point of view of Japanese people and Fukuzawa Yukichi. It will also talk about historical events, like the opening of Japan, from the point of view of American and Japanese people. It will describe how western culture was heavily influencing Japan and what were the fears people had, and how Fukuzawa Yukichi was trying to shift this negative view on the Western culture into a tool that Japan can use to become as powerful, or even more powerful, as the West was. It will describe his life and his own experiences he gained while visiting the West, and his knowledge and strong opinions which he used to prove his points.
