This thesis titled "Technophobia and Its Influence on Modern Literature" will provide arguments that "technophobia" - the fear of technology, influences modern literature in relation to the writing process, the content authors choose to depict, and the approach today's audiences go for in terms of reading it. Technology and technophobia have introduced the possibility of a form of a takeover, whereby humanity is exterminated or suppressed by our own creations. The main goal of this paper is to analyze fiction and literary critical texts of writers, such as Jean Baudrillard or Philip K. Dick, and to present their point of views on technology in both their reviews and allegorical fictional stories that allude to the anxiety and distaste for technology, and how it ironically impacts them in terms of writing it as well. The thesis seeks to analyze these works and how they connect to the conceptualization of technology, thereby discussing how the subject matter influences today's readers with the rise of the Digital World, which has been replacing printed material with e-books and how it influences the publishing industry etc. Furthermore, it is vital to consider how technology generally impacts our society in the Holocene era, since the natural world progressively shapes into the digital world; a dystopian, anti-utopian setting, which technophobic authors debate in their work. This thesis will discuss how technology influences writing in schools and the reasons academics employ to include it in their syllabus material. The thesis also utilizes a sustained analysis of literary content (how authors approach the topic) and what attributes modern literature lacks in terms of dealing with the nova presented by technological advancement.

Technology and technophobia have introduced the possibility of a form of a takeover, a 'revolution of the slaves' whereby humanity is exterminated or suppressed by our own creations. In this update of the Frankenstein myth, our own tech creates the conditions of dystopia and despair. This thesis will analyze the elements of Baudrillardian anxiety concerning technology and consider the many ways it has influenced the horror, sci-fi, and closely related sub-genres in modern texts.
