The aim of this work is to study the main characters in The Road by Cormac McCarthy and to analyze their psychology. The theoretical part of the thesis will describe elementary terms defined by classical psychoanalysis (Freud, Jung) which are used in McCarthy's book or are important for the analysis, which will be the second part of this bachelor thesis. The main goal of the analysis of the characters' behavior and thinking will be to find out if McCarthy asserts in the work that humans are born evil or if it is a quality gained as a result of life experience. The theory of evil should be also supported by studies of Phillip Zimbardo.
