This bachelor thesis focuses on the interpretation of the concept of Home in Virginia Woolf's novel To the Lighthouse. It is regarded to be one of the recurrent concepts of her works. The analysed novel is the quintessence of her works where this concept could be analysed from different aspects. The aim of the thesis is to examine the way the author works with the concept of Home and what constituents it includes, to depict what modernist techniques Woolf uses in her works, and to suggest that the importance of the concept of Home in her works is closely related to the historical context of the beginning of the 20th century and to the childhood memories of Virginia Woolf.
