1. Introductory topics will deal with the description of the structure and bonds in solids and the relationship between structure and properties Second Bragg diffraction condition and basic diffraction experiments on single crystals and polycrystals 3. Physical nature of the X-ray diffraction intensity of the diffracted radiation, structural factor, phase problem of structural analysis and outline solutions diffraction manifestations symmetry structure, the effect of temperature on the diffraction pattern. 4. Use diffraction methods in the study of the structure of matter and solving specific problems in materials research: (A) Determination of lattice parameters; (B) identifying an unknown crystalline substance; (C) quantitative phase analysis; (D) the study of the texture; (E) the study of stress; (F) diffraction of amorphous substances - radial distribution function, the degree of crystallinity; (G) the diffraction on thin films 5. Comparison of diffraction of X-rays, electrons, neutrons and synchrotron radiation and their specific applications in materials science
