Learning outcomes
The subject is devoted to the theoretical aspects of the origin and propagation of the quarry. Fractography is part of the scientific field of solid state physics, which deals with the causes of fractures and their evaluation. It is only on the basis of knowledge about the occurrence of quarries that it is possible to predict the lifetime of materials. This requires, in addition to theoretical knowledge, the ability to apply appropriate methods and correctly interpret the obtained results. Therefore, fractography is a forensic scientific field on the violation of materials, components and production units (bridges, turbines, pressure vessels, etc.).
