Course content

1. Basic classification of polymers, polymerization reactions. 2. Basic methods of production of polymeric materials. 3. Thermoplastics, reactive plastics, synthetic rubbers. Additives for polymers. 4. Development of composite materials, basic definitions and classification of composite materials. 5. Particle and fiber composites. Types of matrices and reinforcements, materials of matrices and reinforcements, powders, division, definitions. 6. Composites with metal matrices, with ceramic matrices, with polymer matrices. Production and use of composites. 7. Characteristics of ceramics, classification and structure of ceramics. 8. Raw materials for the preparation of ceramic mixtures, preparation of ceramics, drying of ceramics. 9. Surface treatment and application of selected types of ceramics.

|
The subject deals with non-metallic structural materials. Their development, distribution, basic characteristics, properties and application possibilities. Part of the subject is devoted to the technology of production of non-metallic structural materials for various types of industry and other sectors.
