Course content
1. Preparation of materials by powder metallurgy - production of powders, compaction. 2. Preparation of materials by extreme plastic deformation. 3. Additive manufacturing - 3D printing, specifics and differences. 4. Materials for working at high temperatures (energy). 5. Materials for cryogenic applications. 6. Functionally gradient materials. 7. Nanostructured and nanocomposite materials. 8. Intelligent materials and systems. 9. Materials with shape memory. 10. Superconducting and superplastic materials. 11. Metallic glasses, amorphous materials and metallic foams. 12. Superlight alloys (Al-Li, Mg-Li) and their applications. 13. Intermetallic compounds, their preparation, properties and use.

The subject provides an introduction to unconventional and progressive materials applied for extreme operating conditions (especially materials for extremely high or, conversely, cryogenic temperatures). These are powder metallurgy products, functionally gradient materials, intelligent materials, materials with shape memory, superconducting / superplastic materials, etc.
