Course content

1. Meaning and basic principles of organic chemistry. Bonds in organic compounds. 2. Acids and bases, electrophiles and nucleophiles: Functional groups as centers of reactivity. Basic stereochemistry concepts. 3. Alkanes and cycloalkanes: Structural and physical properties, nomenclature. Reaction of alkanes and cycloalkanes. 4. Chirality in general and chiral molecules: Stereoisomerism, optical activity, stereocenter 5. Haloalkanes 6. Alcohols: Acid-base properties, synthesis; Ethers and analogs of alcohols and ethers with sulfur 7. Alkenes and alkynes: Bond parameters, degree of unsaturation. Preparation of alkenes by elimination, dehydration. Reaction Preparation and reaction of alkynes 8. Benzene and aromaticity: Structure of benzene. Polycyclic aromatic compounds 9. Aromatic substances-reactions: Electrophilic aromatic substitution. Phenols and nucleophilic aromatic substitution. Electrophilic substitution of phenols, oxidation of phenols. Azo dyes 10. Aldehydes and ketones: Reaction of the carbonyl group 11. Carboxylic acids and their functional derivatives: Acid-base properties of carboxylic acids. Addition-elimination mechanism of substitution at the carboxyl carbon. 12. Amines, their derivatives and other functional groups containing nitrogen: Acid-base properties and synthesis of amines. Quaternary ammonium salts 13. Dicarbonyl compounds. Heterocycles: Aromatic and non-aromatic five-membered and six-membered heterocycles with nitrogen, oxygen and sulphur

Learning outcomes
|
The lecture is designed in such a way that the mainly general parts, which are supposed to create the necessary apparatus for understanding the laws of the chemistry of organic compounds, are followed by an overview of individual groups of organic compounds. The aim of the lectures is to create a comprehensive picture of modern organic chemistry and a necessary basis for understanding the processes involved in the synthesis of materials containing organic components. An immediate link is created between this lecture and the exercise.
