The course deals with the basic procedures and methods of metallography. Introduces students to the procedures of sample preparation for various types of research into the structure of metallic materials. The course focuses on acquainting students with the possibilities and current trends in the field of light and electron microscopy and related processes. The content of the course is focused on theoretical and practical procedures used to document the state of the structure and microstructure of metallic materials.
The student has a theoretical foundation in the field of structure and construction of metallic materials. He has knowledge of the structure and microstructure of commonly used metal materials also in connection with the technology of their processing. The student is also able to prepare metallographic cutting for both the needs of light and electron microscopy. He is able to work with different types of light microscopes. Based on the analysis of the structure and microstructure of the examined sample, he is able to compile and present conclusions about the state and properties of the material. |
