Course content
1. Basic concepts, meaning, history and development of ergonomics and anthropometry. 2. EU legislation in the field of ergonomics, ČSN ISO 6385 Ergonomic principles for designing work systems (1993). ČSN EN 614-1 Safety of machinery. Ergonomic principles for design. Part 1: Terminology and general principles (1995). ČSN EN 45014 General criteria for declaration of conformity by the supplier - 1991 3. Work and its complexity. Effect of risk factors. 4. Appropriate choice of working position, optimal working height, handling space and reach zones, optimal viewing conditions. 5. Economics of work movements. 6. Work environment, health problems and occupational diseases, risk ergonomic factors and compensatory exercises. 7. Project ergonomics, construction of new workplaces, machines and equipment. Ergonomic audit. 8. Basic characteristics of work rationalization, approaches to rationalization and introduction to analysis and measurement of work. 9. Work analysis. 10. Measurement of work, basic methods of detecting and determining time consumption, direct and indirect measurement (MOST methodology). 11. Determination of time consumption standards: standardization of production operations, auxiliary and service operations (adjusters, maintenance, inspection, etc.), calculation of standards.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the possibilities of increasing the efficiency and productivity of work in the relationship between man, equipment and environment. The main focus of the course is on ergonomics and anthropometry, economics of movements, improvement of the working environment and rationalization of work through the analysis and measurement of work.
The student gains an overview of the possibilities of workplace optimization, reduction of physical demands, improvement of the working environment and work safety, increase of efficiency and productivity of work. They will learn to set time consumption standards in connection with the work process and the environment.
