Learning outcomes
The main goal of the course is the general foundations of the theory of internal structure of metals and alloys using knowledge of metal physics and the connection with various technological processes. Processes taking place in materials in the field of structure, substructure in connection with technological processes and their influence on the overall properties of materials. Changes in the material as a result of these internal processes and ways to improve the properties of the material as a result of these processes. Selected chapters in materials science also provide a basic overview of Fe alloys in terms of their properties and uses, as well as a range of non-ferrous materials (Al, Mg, Ti, Cu) with regard to their properties, use. The course also gives space to new directions in the field of materials, namely nanomaterials and composites. The aim is to obtain the necessary basic information at the beginning of the study, which can be followed up in further study. It also pays particular attention to the internal structure of materials and the relationship between their properties and the structure and the possibility of influencing it within the technological processing.
Students will gain an overview of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, its properties and possible uses. They will also gain knowledge of the basics of materials science and the possibilities of influencing its properties.
