1. Introduction to degradation processes. 2. Limit states of technical objects, internal and external factors, classification of degradation processes. 3. Fracture properties of TO materials - introduction. Basics of fractography. 4. TO wear: abrasive, adhesive, erosive, cavitation, vibrational - conditions of origin, mechanism, wear resistance. 5. TO fatigue - basic concepts, initiation, mechanism and propagation of fatigue cracks. 6. TO creep - basic concepts, initiation, mechanism of cracking. 7. Degradation by radiation: degradation by UV radiation, radiation damage, etc. 8. Degradation of bearings, rails, piping systems. 9. Methods of increasing the resistance of TO to degradation, materials resistant to selected types of degradation.
