Course content |
Subject content: 1. Basic terms from the area of working (habitable) environment, basic hygienic requirements and regulations. Lighting - artificial, natural and combined, basic hygienic requirements for lighting according to the kind of activity. 2. Ventilation and air conditioning, significance for creating suitable working and habitable environment, basic principles of ventilation and air conditioning systems. 3. Heating. Heat transmission between the human and surrounding, simplified equation of thermal comfort, principle of calculating the heat loss, kinds of loss, and basic types of heating systems. 4. Basic terms from the area of environment, definition, basic legislation for environment protection, the components of environment, and the quality of environment. 5. Components of environment - air; processes polluting the air, main pollutants; consequences of pollution, methods of decreasing emissions of gas and solid pollutants. 6. Components of environment - water; polluting underground and surface waters; basic principles of industrial and domiciliary waste waters. 7. Components of environment - ground environment, soil, pollution of soil and ground environment with waste, methods of waste disposal - basic principles of low-waste and non-waste technology, waste disposal. 8. Noise and vibrations, methods of determining the noise level, methods of decreasing noise and vibrations in working and outer environment. Ionized radiation in the environment - sources, influences. 9. Solution of ecological problems in industry, the assessment of environment impact of industrial production (EIA). Information systems in the area if environment. 10. Ecological company management, principle of ISO 14001, ecological management system (EMS), ecological management and audit system (EMAS), ecological audit. Basic principles of permanently sustainable development.

In this course the basic terms from the area of environment technology are explained. The students will get acquainted with the methods of environment and working environment protection in companies, methods of creating suitable working and habitable environment in terms of heating, air conditioning and noise and lighting. They will get a view of basic human activity influence on environment and of technical and legislative aspects of environment protection. The aim is to acquaint the students with the basic principles of environment and working environment protection and with creating suitable conditions for human life. They will also get acquainted with the problem of managing the environment and working environment care on the level of a company.
The student will be acquainted with the basic concepts of environmental protection - the student will learn the principles of technical means of environmental protection and creation - the student is well versed in the issues of environmental protection and technical solutions to environmental problems - can work independently with information on environmental quality and define environmental problems |
