Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as a theoretical-practical unit, which is a necessary basis for a paramedic to perform his profession in the inpatient section of the anesthesia-resuscitation department (ARO) and emergency admission. The aim is to acquaint students with the most common conditions that lead to patient hospitalization in ARO, IMP and ICU and with the implementation of the nursing process in intensive care. It also familiarizes itself with ways of communicating with a patient with a serious health impairment and in direct danger to life, and with a long-term ill patient in danger to health or life. The subject is closely related to the subject of emergency medicine, where he will acquire knowledge of urgent care for patients in acute and critical conditions. The content of the subject is resuscitation and intensive care for patients of all age groups who are experiencing failure of basic vital functions or imminent failure, in accordance with the latest principles of health care provision and professional knowledge. The course includes the basics of anesthesiology, algesiology and transplantology.
Expertise: The student is familiar with the issue of providing highly specialized nursing care in intensive care and resuscitation departments. The student knows the specific needs of intensive care patients. Knows basic invasive and non-invasive monitoring procedures in intensive care. The student knows the methods and procedures of putting the patient under general and local anesthesia. Professional skills: The student can provide basic nursing care to patients in intensive care units. He can measure the physiological functions of patients in intensive care. The student is able to take care of a patient in intensive care within the scope of his competences. General qualifications: The student is able to perform nursing activities in accordance with Decree No. 55/2011Coll. as amended, which stipulates the activities of health workers and other professionals in the intensive care unit.
