Course content
Introductory Session Introduction to the content and objectives of the course Examples of illustrations and specifics of their preparation for risograph printing Assignment: preparation of 2 illustrations for three-color printing (prior approval of the design by the instructor is required before the first block lesson) 1st Block Lesson (6 hours) Orientation in the workshops and introduction to operational rules and safety regulations Training in the use of machines: risograph, paper cutter, creasing machine, basic bookbinding tools Organization and borrowing rules for tools Printing of prepared illustrations on the risograph (3 colors, 15 copies per student) Storage of prints for further work 2nd Block Lesson (6 hours) Introduction to bookbinding techniques and paper folding methods Creation of the first parts of the sample book (stitched, sewn, and glued bindings) Work with covers using illustrations from the first lesson 3rd Block Lesson (5 hours) Continuation of work on the sample book Practical demonstrations: leporellos, paper folds, formats for zines and small print materials Completion of the full set of bookbinding samples Consultations and preparation of works for submission and grading

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a block-based class focused on providing students with practical experience in risograph printing and bookbinding technologies. Students will go through the entire process ? from preparing illustrations for multicolor printing and working with a risograph, to creating their own bookbinding sample catalog. The outcome will be a comprehensive collection of sample books and bindings that will serve as a practical resource for further study, personal creative work, and professional practice. The course is taught in blocks, divided into two groups, and includes a shared introductory session. Emphasis is placed on connecting creative work with the practical acquisition of technological processes and manual skills.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
