Learning outcomes
The course makes students familiarized with the issues and basic tools of spatial creation. By means of short exercises with material and study according to models, they get to know properties of matter, space, meaning of proportions, tectonics, heaviness and lightness, colour scheme and structure as tools of artistic visual expression. During the course, students study a head according to a live model (learning about relationship of matters, proportions and directions, character of different models' compositionality), realization or creation of a spatial formation model of the student's choice - a utility object, sculpture, jewel, installation, etc., including a cover report analyzing the assignment, drawings (photos) to document individual stages of the object development, reasoning of the graphic tools used in relation with the intention, and photodocumentation of the work when completed. 1. Getting acquainted with the task, including historical and current examples of the approach to the topic. 2. Study of a head according to a live model - basic layout of head, neck and shoulder relationships. 3. Visit to the European sculpture exhibition according to current possibilities (e.g. Albertinum in Dresden or Duchcov Chateau, etc.) Debate over the historical and cultural context of plastic depiction of people. 4. Study of a head according to a live model - head anatomy, layout of individual parts of the head. 5. Study of a head according to a live model - subtle face details, hint of expression, facial gestures. 7. Plaster casts - separated mold, negative. 8. Plaster casts - the cast itself, positive. 9. Cutting off negative, gross retouch of the positive. 10. Grinding and fine retouch of the positive. 11. Influence of 3D shape colouring on perception of plasticity, acquaintance with possibilities of patina and polychromia. 12. Surface finish according to the intent. 13. Installation of finished busts in the studio, discussion over the results.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the given field of study, they result from a concrete annotation of the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
