Learning outcomes
During the course, the students (both theoretically and practically) get acquainted with basic painting techniques and their application on grounds of various qualities. They use various painting techniques and their combinations, e.g. Indian ink, aquarelle, gouache, tempera, both dry and oil pastels, wax colours, etc. At the same time, they are taught to be able to decide themselves, which technology and painting technique is the most adequate one for the particular artistic task or assignment, and also, which way is the most convenient related to the slowly developing creative expression and opinion of the student's. Assignments get more difficult in time, from a still and an object up to a head and figure (figures, and half figures). The students can study an act according to a live model. The painting course is based on gradual cultivating the student's expression and style with emphasis on purposeful expression.
The student knows the nature and background of the assigned theme - they have a notion of how it has been processed before in the art history, as well as in the current artistic tendencies relating to their concept of work. The student knows and masters the necessary technical aspects of the graphic realization, as well as the possibilities and limits of publishing it. The student is able to create a peculiar work meeting the conditions of the assigned theme. They are able to explain the process of implementation of their work, to substantiate both the form and the idea of their work, and can give reasons for all aspects of their presentation, including its adjustment, installation, and promotion. The student can defend their work in writing in the form of a brief technical and theoretical text, can present their work and defend it also verbally in a dialogue with other students and the tutor, and can react adequately to professional questions and comments.
