Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of canoeing and kayaking and with the possibilities of water tourism on streams of varying difficulty. Students are expected to develop the skills necessary to control the boat in the current and the knowledge of reading the water associated with it. The aim of the course is also to create conditions for cultivating skills that can be considered necessary for the successful implementation of rescue and rescue activities associated not only with the control of the vessel, but also with their own stay in the flowing water and help or. rescuing individuals in the current. The content of the course is mainly the acquisition and cultivation of skills associated with the control of the vessel on flowing water. Emphasis is placed on the safe control of canoes, kayaks and rafting boats and other available vessels so that the student can not only master the usual tourist Czech streams, but also master the basics of sports riding, which in favorable circumstances allow him to ride in canal channels . In addition, students are passed on other and theoretical knowledge about the safety of staying on watercourses, material equipment, organization of cooperatives, etc. the ability to work with a map (mileage) and the art of flow orientation ("reading water").
Demonstrated knowledge and skills: The student is after completing the course - Able to control the vessel on the watercourse up to WW2 level under normal hydrological conditions, - Able to control the vessel in more demanding conditions when applying the elements of sport kayaking and canoeing. - Can apply elements of rescue or assistance in the conditions of water tourism and make the right decisions about the application of elements of rescue and assistance in specific conditions of demanding water terrains (eg boating grounds, canals). - Can define key points for improving kayaking and canoeing boating skills. - Can lead a team in a selected section of a watercourse, can choose a suitable terrain for its rafting. - Orients in the issues of risks and dangers of staying on the watercourse, can draw attention to problem areas and obstacles on the watercourse. - Applies variably learned skills with regard to changing water flow conditions. - Orients in the basic terminology of canoeing and water tourism, - is able to define the basic mistakes made by himself or other participants and with his knowledge and experience contributes to their elimination. - Can use the acquired competencies for further possible expansion of knowledge and skills in the field. - Can demonstrate selected boating skills
