Course content
|
1. Introduction to physical geography (object, subject matter, methods), models, natural components of the landscape. 2. Geological structure of the Earth, theory of plate tectonics, selected minerals and their composition 3. The Earth´s atmosphere. Sunlight going through the Earth´s atmosphere. Global circulation of atmosphere. Global climate changes. 4. Selected climatic and meteorological elements, synoptic meteorology. Meteorological hazards and risks. 5. Relief, georelief, geomorphology as a science, basic principle of relief´s development. 6. Endogenic and exogenic processes and their exposure in relief. Geomorphological hazards and risks. 7. Water on Earth development of hydrosphere, Earth´s water 8. Water in the oceans, its characteristics, flow, and relation to other FG components. Interaction of the sea and sea coast. Water on the continents flowing water, river-basin, hydrological regime and its characteristics. Hydrological hazards and risks. 9. Soils, their rise, genetic horizons. 10. Introduction to biogeography. Environment and live organisms.

Learning outcomes
|
The study-unit focuses on introducing students with majors in the field of physical geography. It explains the necessary physical geographical terminology aa theory. It deals with relationships inside of physical subsystems. Theoretical issues leads to the skills of the student in defining natural regions and their characteristics. The course is devoted to the definition of the discipline of physical geography, the position and movements of the Earth in space, the geological structure of the Earth, the energy balance of the Earth and the global climate, synoptic meteorology, the relief of the soil and the distribution of organisms on Earth.
Student will be abble demonstrate theretical knowledge of physical geografy.
