Course content
Lectures: 1. History of world and Czech athletics. 2. Athletic movements in the world and the CR. 3. Conditional, recreative and school athletics. 4. Sporty athletics and athletics of handicapped people. 5. Conditional athletic preparation. 6. Methodology of running technique. 7. Methodology of jumping techniques. 8. Methodology of throw techniques. 9. Development of strength abilities. 10. Development of speed abilities. 11. Development of coordination abilities and mobility in athletics. 12. Development of endurance abilities in athletics. 13. Motor abilities testing in athletics. 14. Written test. Theoretical seminar: 1. Development of selected motor abilities and conditional athletic exercises - practical demonstrations (video, DVD) Practical lessons: 2. Games and competitions for conditional abilities development. 2. Speed abilities development with the usage of special athletic training resources and methods. 3. Coordinational abilities development with the usage of special athletic training resources and methods. 4. Strength abilities development with the usage of special athletic training resources and methods. 5. Endurance abilities development with the usage of special athletic training resources and methods. 6. Conditional athletic exercises in different environment focused of selected sport. 7-13. Students´ methodological outputs according to given task. 14. Testing with the usage of suitable motor tests for individual athletic disciplines.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the study-unit is to gain theoretical knowledge of the history of athletics, athletic movement, the contents of athletic activities with a focus on basic fitness athletic training. Students are introduced from the perspective of individual athletic disciplines, the methodology of the training and development of motor skills, including testing. The seminars verify the ability to select properly and efficiently incorporate fitness into athletic training games, special training tools and methods used in the development of motor skills. Teaching is finished handing essay, in which students solve athletic fitness training for selected sport. This examination is knowledge of Athletics I and Athletics II.
After passing this subject the student: - Has theoretical knowledge from history, today´s athletic movements, technique and biomechanics, the content of athletic activities realized in different forms of athletics, methodology for motor abilities development. - Can use athletic terminology. - Knows motor tests connected with conditional athletic preparation and can diagnose the level of individual motor abilities development, - Can referee athletic disciplines according to the rules. - Can form and lead training unit focused of motor abilities development of children and youth. - Knows the right procedure for practicing the basic technique of individual athletic disciplines.
