Course content
1. Introduction into sociology. 2. Short survey of the most important characterictics of sociology as a science. Basic terms, big names and problems which were and still are explored in sociology. 3. Sport activities: conceptual recources, social and cultural contexts of sports functioning. 4. Sport and socialization, top level sport versus recreational sport. 5. Sport as a symbol of a lifestyle, rituals in sport. 6. Globalization versus internacionalization of sport, sport migration. 7. Etics in sport versus fair play. 8. Sport and spectators, violence on football stadiums. 9. The phenomenon of sports stars. 10. Sedentary society, sports acitivities as a sociological phenomenon. 11. Active motivation, motoric activities versus overweight and obesity. Health and obesity practical contexts, physical activity versus obesity theory versus experience. 12. Material surrounding. 13. What does the society expect from sports activities? 14. Recapitulation, discussion, credits. The course is determined by 6 lessons of contact teaching. Topics No 1, 2, 8 will be presented in the context of contact teaching. Other topics will be the subject of a self-study based on compulsory and recommended literature. The student solves a seminar paper by the teacher. This proves to learn the terminology of sociology. The work will include a bibliography drafted the standards. Details will provide teachers. Submitting seminar paper and communication takes place via an electronic information system of the university, respectively physically, via email the teacher. Self-study is driven by the teacher, based on a recommended reading and study support especially in the university system Moodle: https://moodle.pf.ujep.cz

Learning outcomes
The aim of the study-unit is to gain basic insight into sociology as a science and an introduction to basic concepts, personalities. Students will be given examples of problems that have been and are studied in sociology. In addition, students will be introduced to sociological problems in the context of physical education and sport. The content of the lectures are focused on specific topics. Each lecture will be followed by a seminar in which students will be required active approach in every presented topic by discussion, presentation, etc.
After passing this subject the student is able: - To understand basic sociological terminology. - To explain and to argue about taught issues.
