21st century medicine is a medicine for complex device technologies. The task of the course Medical Technology is to describe the individual clinical disciplines and instrumentation, which is used for diagnosis and treatment.
Expertise: The student is able to describe a given medical department according to the medical devices and describe the individual instrumentation most frequently used by the staff. Students can distinguish individual medical devices according to diagnostic or therapeutic use and can explain the principles used by the technique used. Furthermore, the student is able to understand the indications and contraindications of the use of individual medical technologies and can reliably, according to their knowledge and ability, estimate the risk associated with the use of a medical device on a patient and the associated consequences that would result from not adhering to the correct procedure when working with a given medical device and its misuse on the patient. Professional skills: The student will master basic work with instrumentation, deepen their knowledge of working with the technology, which is present in their workplace (if the student is working in a medical facility). They can realize basic measurements, understand physical concepts and can relevantly assess the correct indication of a therapeutic medical device according to their field knowledge and skills and further correctly evaluate the data measured by a diagnostic medical device. At the same time, student is familiar with basic human physiological parameters, such as standard blood pressure, oxygen saturation, etc.
