Seminar topics: 1. Definition of features of the field of midwifery, history of midwifery 2. Professional training and education of midwives, PA profession, professional organization in PA 3. PA personality, signs, roles, image of PA, competences and functions of midwives according to the Czech Republic, WHO, ICM 4. Forms and methods of care in midwifery, nursing process, human needs, satisfaction of needs in midwifery 5. Quality of nursing care in midwifery, standards and norms 6. Conceptual models in midwifery and their use in practice 7. Research and science in midwifery, Evidence Based Midwifery.

Learning outcomes

Expertise: Students can: ? enumerate meta-paradigms and describe the relationships between health ? illness ? midwifery and the environment, ? define nursing care for a person from the point of view of a holistic philosophy, ? list the circumstances of the origin and history of the nursing process, ? define the modern concept of midwifery in the Czech Republic, ? explain PA roles, the profession's regulatory system and PA registration, ? describe the specifics of midwifery research. Professional skills: eš Students can: ? find information and resources about the activities of international and national professional organizations and use them to expand theoretical knowledge in the field, find the documents of the European WHO strategy for the education of midwives and use them to complete knowledge about the modern concept of obstetric care in the Czech Republic and in Europe, based on of legislative knowledge to search for information on the application of the profession of midwife in the European region. General qualifications: ? the student is able to clearly and convincingly communicate his own professional opinions to experts and the wider public
