Course content
Lecture topics: 1st consultation: -Introduction to the field of emergency medicine, disaster medicine, history of the field (2 h) -Concept of emergency medical services and emergency services (1 h) -Instrumentation and material equipment in emergency medicine (1 h) 2nd consultation: -Cardiopulmonary resuscitation of adults and children (2 h) -Internal medicine emergencies (2 h) -Urgent neurological conditions (2 h) Seminar topics: 3rd consultation: -Surgical emergencies (2 h) -Pediatric emergencies (2 h) Self-study: -ABCDE examination algorithm -Urgent conditions in ENT -Emergencies in infectious medicine -Emergencies in ophthalmology -Disorders of acid-base balance and internal environment

Learning outcomes
The subject provides a concise, clear and comprehensive picture of contemporary emergency medicine and disaster medicine. The main topics of the subject are states of immediate threat to life and health of traumatic and non-traumatic origin. Part of the subject is the organization of care for these conditions in the continuity of pre-hospital and hospital emergency care.
Expertise: Student demonstrates expertise in selected areas of emergency medicine and disaster medicine. Student orients itself in the basic legal regulations governing the provision of emergency medical services. Student has knowledge of the basic investigation methods in emergency medicine, student is familiar with the basic drug groups used in emergency medicine. Student knows the recommended procedures of the European Resuscitation Council for emergency resuscitation of adults and children. Student has knowledge in disaster medicine. Professional skills: The student can practically examine a patient using the equipment used in emergency medicine and in the context of the ABCDE procedure. Furthermore, he can practically carry out emergency resuscitation of an adult and child patients. General qualifications: The student can open the airways without and with aid. Can provide intravenous access through intraosseous access. Student can practically defibrillate a patient with a malignant heart rhythm disorder.
