Lecture topics: 1. Introduction to the field of emergency medicine, disaster medicine, history of the field. (1 h) 2. Concept of emergency medical services and emergency income. (2 h) 3. Instrumentation and material equipment in emergency medicine. (2 h) 4. Diagnosis, monitoring and examination in the context of the ABCDE approach. (3 h) 5. Pharmacology in emergency medicine. (2 h) 6. Electrocardiography and electropulse therapy in emergency medicine. (3 h) Seminar topics: 1. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation of adults and children. (3 h) 2. Airway patency and securing. (2 h) 3. Provision of vascular bed in emergency medicine. (2 h) 4. Emergency internist conditions. (2 h) 5. Emergency neurological conditions. (2 h) 6. Emergency surgical conditions. (2 h) 7. Pediatric emergencies. (2 h)

Learning outcomes |
The course provides a brief, clear and comprehensive picture of contemporary emergency medicine and disaster medicine. The main topics of the course are states of immediate threat to life and health of traumatic and non-traumatic origin. Part of the course is the organization of care for these conditions in the continuity of prehospital and hospital emergency care.
Expertise: The student demonstrates expertise in selected areas of emergency medicine and disaster medicine. He is familiar with the basic legal regulations governing the provision of emergency medical services. He has knowledge of basic examination methods in emergency medicine, is familiar with the basic drug groups used in emergency medicine. He knows the recommended procedures of the European Resuscitation Council for emergency resuscitation of adults and children. We have selected knowledge of disaster medicine. Professional skills: The student is able to practically examine the patient using the instrumentation used in emergency medicine and in the context of the ABCDE procedure. He can also practically perform urgent resuscitation of adult and pediatric patients. Competences: The student is able to clear the airways without aids and with aids. Can provide intravenous access by intraosseous approach. He can practically defibrillate a patient with a malignant heart rhythm disorder. |
